Privacy and map information

EasyRoute uses Google Maps, Places and Routes for maps, address suggestions, traffic estimates and Android navigation. Google receives the location and search information needed to provide these features. See Google’s Privacy Policy and Google Maps terms.

When you request a route, your starting point, destination and preferences are sent to the EasyRoute server. It sends route coordinates to an OpenStreetMap Overpass service to check road types and mapped traffic lights. EasyRoute does not intentionally store your journey or address searches. Your preferences are saved on your device.

The server keeps temporary request counters with hashed IP addresses to limit usage. Hosting providers may retain standard access logs, including IP addresses. There are no EasyRoute accounts or advertising trackers in this preview.

How route preferences work

Avoid tolls and Avoid highways are sent to Google as route preferences. Google may still include these roads when other routes are unavailable or impractical. The five-minute turn allowance is measured against the fastest candidate returned with the chosen road preferences. Android 0.2.2 supports both road options. Left turns from small streets onto major roads receive no rule-2 penalty when a controlling traffic light is confirmed in the available map data. If a light cannot be confirmed, that turn remains discouraged.

EasyRoute scores the routes returned by Google and selects a lower-scoring route within five minutes of the fastest returned route. It does not search every possible road combination. Junction and signal data can be incomplete or inaccurate. An absent traffic-light tag does not prove that a light is absent.

The Android app uses Google’s Navigation SDK. Road conditions, positioning and automatic rerouting can change the route, and custom preferences cannot be guaranteed during those changes. Follow road signs and actual conditions. The website is a route planner; native voice navigation is available in the Android app.
